Unfiltered is a quick study of the latest video I’m working on. It’s a behind-the-scenes of my work-in-progress. Inspirations, the idea I’m trying to capture, maybe even the rough script I’m playing with. It’s the process.
I’ve been quite lax about getting these newsletters into your inboxes on Tuesdays. I don’t know if anyone but me notices my tardiness.
Some non-Aanab things are falling into place so I’m in the uncomfortable phase of rearranging my days to make it all work. The shake up has meant that my next video has been pushed to the bottom of my to-do list as paying gigs take the higher slots. However, doing so has made me realize how much creating these videos does for me. It keeps me present and attentive. It also gets my eyes off my screens (until the hours of editing, of course).
I’ve been stealing clips here and there but I still don’t know what they’re going to come together to be, if anything. Once I get some of these adjacent gigs squared away, it should also be cool enough to wander around Beirut with my thoughts in tow. That’s how I’ve justified this pause when I’m afraid of getting so sidetracked by fleeting paychecks that I’ll lose momentum altogether. Now I know that I enjoy it too much for that to happen.
To keep spirits up on this sweltering rock in space, I’ve been creating seasonal vision boards on Pinterest. I’m trying anything to motivate myself visually and it’s a good brain massage in comparison to the tenderizer that is Twitter/IG feeds.
